Having vowed not to go to the pub until Christmas at the earliest, I was in there within 15 minutes of the soft opening (ooh err missus) yesterday. What an improvement. You have the attention of at least two bar staff as soon as you walk through the door and you are guaranteed a seat within seconds. Once in that seat you have the right to tell anyone else to go away - this is a massively attractive spin-off to me. You no longer have to try to attract the attention of someone behind the bar to get a drink, it is brought to you on a tray! The music is set to an acceptable volume to allow for distanced conversation - no more shouting over it - and 25 year's worth of previously sacrosanct litter stuck to the walls has been removed. It is now closer to my idea of a good pub than ever. It's just a shame that I cannot afford to go in there all the time as I used to. Oh well.
