That is amazing - 720K. The work of the board and associates has produced results which go wildly beyond anyone's expectations, and have not only secured (I hope!) the future of The Bell itself, but everyone who actually works there too. What a result.

Agree - this is a fantastic result. As someone new to Bath immediately struck by The Bell's many irreplaceable charms it's been brilliant to learn about the depth and breadth of real support this wonderful pub has. Of course the setup and share sale process has been done quickly and under pressure, and I've met people who have pointed out mistakes or expressed valid opinions about how they would have done things differently. But I believe it has been done meticulously (with special credit to our very capable company secretary Sue and to various expert external advisers), and the main thing is it has worked (special credit to, well, everyone). So we've got to first base at least. Hurrah.

I agree completely. It is delicious to see, in a world where our feeble politicians see privatisation as the answer to everything, that The Bell is going in the opposite direction. This has been a fantastic achievement so far, and everyone involved deserves a medal or possibly two. Not, of course, forgetting Ian Wood, without whom there would not have been a Bell of the sort we would want to buy. Walcot Waives the Rules!

Thank you to all the team who worked hard to make this happen. Saving the Bell is brilliant and important and it shows how much can be achieved by people power. I'm so glad that me and my husband are a tiny part of this. It will feel even better next time we have a pint!

I'm so pleased, I don't get to the Bell a lot as I live in London, but I invested, and persuaded my mum and sister as well, who both live in Bath. I will be down to celebrate soon, as a shareholder, do I get a special throne to sit on by the way ?
