The Bell was the first pub we went to when we moved to Bath 3 years ago. As (youngish) middle aged people we have found it increasingly hard to find pubs that you can go in and sit and have a good chat without having to shout above the hoards of noisy yobs and youngsters which seem to fill most pubs these days. The Bell has a good mix of 'real' people of all ages so you feel immediately welcome and accepted. The music nights are a real bonus for those who can't afford the prices of other Bath music hotspots on a regular basis. I like the atmosphere and to me it feels like pubs did when I was a teenager back in the 80's - earthy, dark, cosy and a bit alternative, but also accepting of all kinds. A proper pub, not a 'bistro' or foodie place painted in Farrow and Ball and Shabby Chic style! I work just down the road and love popping in for a pint (which sometimes turns into several) in the summer and sitting in the garden on the way home.
My husband and I fully support this community initiative and hope as a community we can pull it off. Good luck to everyone. I especially like the BBC corner! All good pubs should have one of those!
