I am a musician. I have drunk, eaten & played in lots of different pubs all over the world. The Bell in Bath is the best pub I have ever been to. There are a whole host of ingredients that make it so. You only need to sit & watch the world go by in there to see that there is a whole cross section of characters that come in for a quiet pint - or a chat with friends at the bar. Someone may happily sit quietly in the corner over a pint & read a book, someone else may have a coffee & make use of the free wifi. And so it goes on... The Bell is one of the few pubs that I feel comfortable walking into on my own.
One of the most important things to me is the fact that I can be myself in the Bell. I don't feel as if I need to dress up - make any particular effort with my appearance...I feel at home there. Also - having been performing most of the week - working from Weds to Saturday usually...my most favourite thing is the Sunday lunchtime music. The Bell serves fab coffee - so you can start lunch with one of those - & then move onto a yummy pint...my favourite - always on tap - Summer Lightening
My weekend can extend to Monday (it is the musicians Sunday
& I can enjoy another fantastic band/musician Monday night too. There are rarely any pubs where you can walk in Monday night, Wednesday night or Sunday lunchtime & see anything ranging from jazz to blues, folk to roots. I have never been disappointed by the great acts that play there. They also play some great music in the bar...at a comfortable enough volume that you CAN have a conversation over it. There are no TV's showing Sport...just lots of posters advertising other local music & 2 open fires...heaven. Let's keep it that way.
